Bournes Youth proved how good the coaching is through the ranks with a fine performance.

Bourne 24 Sleaford 0

Bourne were hoping to press on with their latest surge of form despite missing several key players to injury and the tigers saints game . Because of this the home side started with a very young side, most of whom have developed through the juniors to the senior side, despite this the youngsters stepped up to the mark from the first minute pushing the larger and experienced visiting pack backwards at the first scrum . I t was clear from this that the youngsters had a point to prove and show that they were not there just to make up the numbers. As Bourne made steady progress and with the line at his mercy Tom Bentley inexplicably knocked the ball on resulting in a sleaford scrum on their own 22 yard line . Bouyed their first scrum the Bourne Front row of Mark Thomas Neil Oglesbee and Karl Gray again forced sleaford back and Bournes hooker stole the ball enabling Jordan Payne to get quick ball out to Jack Berry who drew the tackle and offloaded to Bentley to make amends for his error and touch down in the corner . Somehow despite the distance and prevailing wind Binns managed to convert , Bourne continued to press looking for more points and the youthful bourne side doubled the lead when Binns gambled on a long pass to Dale Ginger who crashed over from 5 yards to double the advantage(Try Unconverted). Sleaford tried to get back in the game but despite several breaks could not get past the gain line with strong tackling from Jake Appleby, Rhys Powell and Tom Mole. From one of these tackles on the halfway line The Bourne forwards rucked hard to secure the ball giving binns the chance to break through releasing Berry to Sprint over from 25 yards under the posts (TRY unconverted). As the Bourne side pressed on looking for the elusive bonus point Binns took a quick tap penalty and wisely released Tom Dixon who used his devastating pace to good effect to evade the visitors desperate tackles and crash over in the corner , Binns once again making the difficult conversion after missing the 2 easy chances. The second half saw changes made and allowed Sleaford to press forward seeking to get on the scoresheet particularly in the last 10 minutes where Bournes Defence assisted by Dale Ginger literally parked the bus in front of the line . Tom Dixon in particular with a courageous effort holding the ball up 5 times to keep the visitors scoreless.

Bourne Captain John Hume said "The youngsters certainly turned up with their game heads on and showed the strength in depth that the Junior section is now providing the seniors with"
