The under 10's team were at home to Market Rasen and Deeping on Sunday. The games were both hard fought. The boys took on Market Rasen first, having witnessed a tight game between the two guest teams who kicked off the weekend. The first try came within minutes as Ben Latham drove in, at distance, with very little opposition from the Rasen defence. Another try followed with a well worked effort from both props. Ben Latham took on two defenders to give a fantastic offload to a supporting Matty Baker who drove over for the second try. Rasen came back with a couple of tries but the half was won by a storming run by Jacob Gadd to take a 15 - 10 lead at the break. The second half was evenly matched with Rasen drawing level early in the half. Bourne frustratingly fell short of the line on a further two occasions, being run out into touch. The team worked hard and after some great defence by everyone, led by Matty Baker, kept the game in their favour to allow Ed Ward to score and then Ethan Hirst took the spoils to give Bourne a well earned win.
The next game saw Deeping front up which made for a great contest having recently played them and lost. Matty Baker took control of their attack with some resolute defence. The team was forged into holding out the strong Deeping attack. Once again a try was missed by a strong running Ben Claydon as he was pushed into touched just short of the line. The first half was a 0 - 0 draw with it all to play for. The first to respond in the second half was Deeping with a short free run to the try line from a scrummage breakdown. This only gave the team a will to take on the Deeping defence even though it was a stop start game. The team came through with another fantastic try, run from distance by Ed Ward. Deeping had the last word with a try making a final score 5 -10 to Deeping. The whole team can be proud of the effort and hard work they have done with a man of the match performance by Matty Baker.
