Porters in Maiden Victory

Bournes 2nd Xv "the Porters" finally broke their winless streak on Saturday with a 17-10 win over Sleaford B on Saturday. Starting the game with many changes from the team that were drubbed 91-0 v Spalding 2s the previous week , Bournes mercurial Captain Neil Oglesbee was able to select a more balanced and experienced side. Bournes Pack knew they would have to work hard to give the backs a platform and they were industrious in this. The Front row of Mellor, Payne and Colletto winning the early exchanges to set up the opening Try for Hooker Jordan Payne to score , Bourne contnued to press and it wasnt long before the enigmatic Dave Mclaren broke through two tackles to Touch down beneath the posts, Tom Bentley Converting , as the game progressed Bouirn easserted themselves and the impressive Harry Thornburn making his senior debut days after his 17th Birthday saw a gap and powered through it to cap a fabulous debut. As tiredness set in for both sides Bourne got sucked in by the niggles and started to concede needless penalties which Sleaford took full advantage of to score, The final 5 minutes saw Bourne camped on their own line with both Forwards and Backs putting bodies on the line to prevent the try but on the last play of the game the home sides prop somehow squeezed through.
