Bourne 2nds in Flambouyant Draw

On a heavy pitch on a Dark January afternoon Bourne 2nds (a development side of experienced vets and up and coming youngsters) got their first point of the season against a strong Kestevan side.
With conditions set for the forwards and with both teams having large packs it was most definitely not a day for the backs with wind and rain playing havoc with hairstyles.
From the start the near capacity crowd at the Drove must have wondered if the referee had actually bought the ball with him as it was stuffed up the jumpers of both teams. The scrum being a constant battle all day with the enigmatic Bourne captain Oglesbee returning to the front row after a cpl of months flirting with the back row joining club Stalwarts Hill and Cuffe. It was shortly after one of these scrums that the mercurial wren found minton who sped off like a wounded wilderbeast to touch down from 40 yards. The forwards remained locked in battle and shortly into the 2nd half the kestevan 9 came inside his man, sidestepped another and powered through despite the best efforts of young Jack Gwilliam and the evergreen Rod Asher.

The battle of two matched sides continued as the wind and rain increased and Noah was sighted loading the Ark. The introduction of the lightning storm cracking down all around had some a little nervous (we did suggest to the ref as he had the whistle in his mouth he was the most likely candidate to die). Just as we thought it could not get worse……..it did !!!!

Giant hail stones rained down and with the immediate loss of light to compliment the ref called time 10 minutes early as players and supporters dived for cover with a final 7-7 result.
